When it comes to cost, choosing the right bike is one of the most important factors. You need to plan the journey on a bike that doesn’t require much repair or maintenance. Royal Enfield, KTM Duke, CBR 250 and Bajaj Pulsar are some good options. In addition to this, you also need to consider the cost of accommodation, meals, permits, tolls etc.
According to most riders, the average budget for a Ladakh trip on bike is somewhere around INR 35,000. Most riders prefer a trip that lasts for about 15 days, including 6 days of travel to and from Delhi. Keeping this in mind, we’ve tried to provide you with a break-up of overall cost.
Fuel – Fuel charges form a major part of the total cost of a Ladakh motorcycle tour. On average, you need to cover a total distance of more than 3,000 km. You can expect spending somewhere between INR 8,000 to INR 10,000 on petrol.
Accommodation – Ladakh has several budget guesthouses to ensure you have a comfortable stay without spending a lot of money. On a double-sharing basis, a good accommodation in Ladakh costs somewhere between INR 1,000 to INR 2,500. Taxes may be applicable. If you’re travelling in a group, it allows you to cut cost on accommodation.
With good amenities, comfort and hospitality, you can expect to spend somewhere between INR 15,000 to INR 20,000 for a 15-day stay. The cost also depends on other factors, such as number of rooms, meal plans etc. As mentioned earlier, travelling in a group will allow you to manage the Ladakh trip on bike cost.
Food – Ladakh not only has several good restaurants, but even local dhabas serve the best of Ladakhi and Tibetan cuisines. Depending on your choice of vegetarian/non-vegetarian and local/comfort food, you can spend somewhere between INR 100 to INR 500 per meal. For a 15-day trip, you’ll be spending close to INR 3,000 – INR 6,000 on meals. Once again, travelling in a group allows you to cut cost on food and beverages too.
Miscellaneous – The rugged terrain, ever-changing weather conditions and less population require you to keep some money aside for emergencies. You may even want to shop or take back souvenirs for friends and family.
