Here’s a short itinerary of Beas Kund Trek:
Day 1: Drive from Manali to Dhundi Village and trek to Bakarthach ( 1 hr drive & 5 kms , 4-5 hrs)
Day 2: Trek from Bakarthach to Beas Kund and back to Bakarthach (4 kms / 4 hrs)
Day 3: Trek from Bakarthach to Dhundi/ Solang Valley & Drive to Manali (5 kms trek / 1 hr drive)
Detailed trek itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Manali – Dundi Village via Solang Valley and Trek to Bakarthach (1 hrs drive & 5 kms trek, 4-5 hrs)
We will meet at SBI ATM (Mall Road Govt Bus Stand) at 9:00 AM and start the short drive to Solang and start the trek to Dhundi Vaillage a small Village along the Beas River. Trek from Dhundi to Bakarthach and reach the beautiful campsite by early afternoon and enjoy the majestic views.
Day 2: Trek from Bakarthach – Beas Kund and return – Bakarthach (4 kms / 4 hrs)
Witness some of the most stunning views of Hanging glaciers during the today trek from Bakarthach to Beas Kund. After trekking for around 4 to 5 hours through snow and boulders we get the first view of sacred lake of Beas the source of the river Beas. Beas Kund Trek gives amazing views of trekking peaks of Ladakhi Peak, Friendship Peak and Shitidhar Peak
Day 3: Trek from Bakarthach – Dhundi & Drive – Manali (5 kms Trek & 1 hr drive)
We trek back from Bakarthach to Dhundi and drive back to Manali.
Fitness Required for Beas Kund Trek
At high altitude as the air gets thinner oxygen becomes less abundant.The percentage saturation of hemoglobin with oxygen determines the content of oxygen in our blood. After the human body reaches around 2,100 m (7,000 feet) above sea level, the level of oxygen in our hemoglobin begins to plummet. However, the human body has both short-term and long-term adaptations to altitude that allow it to partially compensate for the lack of oxygen.
The Beas Kund Trek is an easy trek suitable for first time trekker with basic fitness
Trekking Experience: Ideal trek for a beginner.
Fitness Required: The Beas Kund Trekfalls in the category of easy treks. The trail is fairly laid out path and has very few steep ascends or descends. Water is available through out the trail. But still if you are thinking of your first big Himalayan trekking experience its better to be prepared. Here is the training schedule to prepare for the trek.
Our treks are generally planned in a way that on an average you have to cover around 9 Kms in 6 hours although there may be slight variation depending on the terrain. This works out to roughly 1.5km per hour which is equivalent to walking in the plains at 6km per hour.
You can train yourself to run 3 kms in 30 minutes as per the schedule given below. Remember always start your training program with stretching and warm up exercises.
Follow this training schedule for trekking fitness required.
Week 1: Start with 10 minute of brisk walk and then jog for 10 minutes and finally 10minutes of easy walk.
Week 2: 5 minutes of brisk walk 15 minutes of jog 5 minutes of easy walk
Week 3: 5 minutes of brisk walk 15 minutes of jog 5 minutes of easy walk
Week 4: 5 minutes of brisk walk and jog for 25 min and cool down your body

Getting There Beas Kund Trek
Manali is the base location for our Beas Kund Trek. Our meeting point in Manali is the Government bus stand opposite the mall road. We will pick you up at 9:00 AM in the morning and start the drive to camp. The entire drive from Manali to basecamp takes around 1 Hour.
Reaching Manali by Road (Bus)
Manali is well connected with comfortable Volvo buses run by government and private operators. You can catch luxury and normal buses to Manali which are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate in delhi. The journey takes around 12-14 hours.
Reaching Manali by Air
Closest airport to Manali is Kullu Airport which is well connected via flights from Delhi. The distance between Kullu and Manali is around 1 hour. To check flights available check makemytrip.com/yatra.com/easmytrip etc.
