Triund is one of the most amazing treks in Himachal Pradesh, and offers mesmerizing views of the Dhauladhar range and Kangra Valley. Just a 4 hour trek to the top, it’s approximately 7 km from McLeodganj’s city center. An easy trek, this one is quite popular among first-time and amateur trekkers. If you’re on a short trip in Dharamshala or McLeodganj, a Triund trek in August shouldn’t be missed. Though you might find the roads slippery and muddy, the magnificent views of the snowy Dhauladhar range and lush Kangra Valley will make the effort worth it.
Triund Trek in August
The first half of August sees many showers. Due to this, road conditions on the trek may seem tough, and test your patience. During this period, staying overnight in a camp or tent doesn’t seem like a good choice. However, you can book a room in the Forest Guest House. Bookings need to be done from the registered office in Dharamshala. Due to muddy and slippery roads, you shouldn’t carry too many items. A light backpack with water bottles and first aid kit should suffice. It’s also good to carry a stick to stay firm on the ground.
The last stretch of Triund trek can seem challenging. It’s pretty steep, and often tests your stamina. Throughout the way, you will have amazing views of snow-capped Dhauladhar range and lush valleys, which look even greener during the monsoon season. You can also catch a glimpse of the Dharamshala Cricket Ground with a bird’s eye view.
During the rains, it’s even more important to consult professionals and experienced trekkers. If you let them plan the trek, it allows you to ensure safety, while making the most of your trekking experience. If you want to get in touch with someone from our team, just click here.
