Triund is undoubtedly one of the most visited and popular trekking destinations in Himachal. Set in front of the majestic Dhauladhar range, Triund is a ridge where hoards of trekkers camp during the peak season. Located approximately 9 km from the town of McLeodganj, there are plenty reasons why McLeodganj to Triund trek has become one of the most preferred trekking routes among seasoned trekkers.
Amazing Views – A journey to Triund offers amazing 360 degree views of the Dhauladhar range. Throughout the trail, you can view the grassy and green meadows of Kangra Valley. As you reach the top, the clouds descend to give you a magnificent view of snow-capped peaks.
Easy to Moderate – Triund is an easy to moderate trek, which means the journey isn’t very exhausting. Even if you’re not a seasoned trekker, McLeodganj to Triund trek distance won’t take more than 4 hours, unless you plan to take multiple halts to enjoy the views. From McLeodganj, you can even take a cab to Gallu Devi Temple. From here, the trek is only 6.5 km. On the trail, you’ll find a few small shops selling tea and snacks.
Beyond McLeodganj to Triund Trek – Though reaching Triund is counted as a good achievement, there’s no reason to stop. The same trail takes you further to Kareri Lake, where you can find and explore numerous rock-cut caves. However, please keep in mind that the route is more challenging than the usual Triund trek difficulty level.
Check Out Bhagsu On the Way Back – You can choose from quite a few trails to reach McLeodganj from Triund. On your way back, choose the route that takes you to Bhagsu Waterfalls and the famous Shiva Cafe.
