Triund is considered to be an easy and beautiful trek, highly recommended for beginners and rookie adventure enthusiasts. A short 7 km trek, it does not take more than 4 hours one-way. Like every other trek, monsoon can cause some issues while planning a trek to Triund. The month of June brings rains, and roads may be muddy and slippery. Though it’s open throughout the year, Triund weather in June can be quite unpredictable.
If you’ve booked a stay in McLeodganj, it’s better to start the trek near Bhagsu waterfall. This scenic sight is also home to the famous Shiva Cafe. On your way to the top, the snow-capped Dhauladhar range is in the backdrop. You can also see lush valleys, which are even greener due to the rains. The cute mountain dogs welcome you on the trek.
During the month of June, you won’t find a lot of trekkers on the top. The main reason is the beginning of monsoon season. In case you still want to stay overnight, it’s better to book the Forest Guest House at the top. You can book a room from the Forest Office in Dharamshala. There’s a small shop at the top selling maggi, snacks, water and other such items.
