Pindari Glacier Trek is an easy trek in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. This trek offers well-defined trails with only one minor pass(Dhakuri Pass) crossing en route to the Pindari Glacier and a chance to experience the quaint village life of the Uttarakhand Kumaon region. The views from Dhakri Khal (2830m) – are particularly impressive and include the many snow-capped peaks that form the southern rim of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. The views from Zero Point cannot be described in words as you witness the snout of Pindar Ganga, the gigantic glacier of Mt. Changuch and amazing views of valleys surrounded by snow clad peaks Nanada Kot, Nanda Bhanar, Panwali Dwar, Baljuri etc

Pindari Glacier trek starts from the Loharkhet. We pick you up early in the morning from Kathgodam Railway station and drive from Kathgodam to Khati Village via Bheem Tal, Almora, Bageshwar, Kapkot and finally Loharkhet .
Kathgodham to Loharkhet is a scenic drive and during summers the greenery is soon taking the cover of Kumoun Himalayas. You will crossing idyllic town of Kumoun hills and last ATM would be in Kapkot so remember to withdraw sufficient cash.
Today we will begin our Pindari Glacier trek from Loharkhet after having breakfast. We drive from Loharkhet to Kharkia which is a 3 hour drive along the road you will see Rhondendron as well oak trees and drive generally take around 3 hours to reach Kharkia from where our trek begins. Through the first day savour the Great Himalayan Range , including the peaks of Trisul, Devtoli, Maiktoli and Nanda Khat that form the southern rim of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. Earlier From Loharket (1760m) the trail winds through an evergreen forest of oak and horse chestnut before ascending to the small temple at Taladhakri (2300m). This is the halfway point on the ascent to the Dhakri Khal. Beyond Taladhakri the trail ascends across meadows and rhododendron forest that bloom by late April. The gradient lessens towards the Dhakri Khal. The meadow of Dhakri (2680m) lies just below the pass but as the new road is there we skip Dhakuri Pass Trek.
Today’s trek is easy and a rewarding, peep into village life at Khati Village. Khati is the largest and last village on the Pindari Glacier trek and Kafni Glacier trek. Khati village is situated on the banks of Pindar Ganga River at an altitude of 2210m. Enjoy your stay in Khati Village by interacting with villagers and visiting the Khati Village temple.
Today is a comparatively long day as we have to trek almost 13 kilometers to Dwali Campsite but trek route is fairly gradual and takes around 7 hours to reach Dwali Camp. During today’s Pindari Glacier Trek you pass across water stream, bridges and also a landslide area where you have to be little careful.
Dwali Camp is located on a site from where you’ll be can see the entire Pindari Valley on one side and Kafni Valley on the other side. Pindar Ganga from Pindar Valley and Kafni River from Kafni Valley merge at the village. Overnight stay in tents.
We start the Pindari Glacier trek with a good breakfast and today’s trek is little easy and also during the season few small Dhabhas operate along the trek where you can savor the famous Nestle Maggi in Himalayas and Parle G biscuit with Ginger Tea. The trek from Dwali to Phurkia is picturesque and full of natural beauty.
If you are a Photographer then today is your day you will get an opportunity to capture the beauty of pristine meadows, glacial formations, waterfalls, Himalayan birds and if you are lucky then Ibex too. You can try your photography skill by capturing waterfall at slow shutter speed.
Today is going to be a big day. We start early for Pindari Glacier Zero point after breakfast. The views on trek from Phurkia to Zero point are superb, on your left views of Mt Baljuri, Mt Panwali Dwar are stunning. The point from where the Snout of Pindari Glacier is visible is called the Zero point.After enjoying the beauty of trekking in Himalayas visit Pindari Baba Ashram and trek back to Phurkia. Overnight stay in Tent.
Zero Point on Pindari Glacier Trek is basically the end point from where you get to see the view of Mt. Nandakhat, Pindari Glacier which is 5 Km long. When you are standing at Zero Point and looking towards snout of Pindar Ganga then on your left across the river is Baljuri Peak, Just in front of you is Mt. Changuch and it’s Glacier on your right are Nanda Kot and Nanda Bhanar peak but are not visible from zero point. We trek back to Phurkia by the same route and takes around 2 hours to reach our camp.
Trek back to Khati village to Khati Village to enjoy one more day stay with hospitable villagers of Khati and share your stories of your trek.
After breakfast it’s the time to say goodbye to Khati Village and start the trek to Loharkhet via Dhakuri. We will have our lunch at Dhakuri with stunning views of Mt Maiktoli and then trek downwards to Loharkhet.
Today’s is just to reach road head where our Jeep will be waiting to drive us to Kathgodam with treasured memoriesof the Pindari Glacier Trek.
