The Brahma Kamal plant has thick and curved roots, which are often used as medicine for cerebral ischemia and paralysis of limbs. A lot of trekkers visiting the Valley of Flowers seek this beautiful alpine flower, which is native to the Himalayan region.

Many people use this flower as an offering at Nanda Devi temple. The Indian Government even issued a postage stamp to commemorate the Brahma Kamal flower. Even during the peak season, this flower can be quite difficult to find. If you’re able to catch a glimpse, consider yourself lucky.

To increase your chances, try looking for the Brahma Kamal flower if you visit during the peak monsoon season. During this period, Brahma Kamal is in full bloom at high-altitude sites like Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers. In fact, the easiest way to find this flower is to look around Hemkund Sahib Lake.
