On reaching Pantwari from Dehradun or Mussoorie, you can rest for a while, before starting the trek. The total distance between Pantwari and Dehradun is about 90 km. It takes about 4 hours to complete the journey. If you prefer the motor route, you need to travel via Mussoorie – Kempty Falls – Nainbagh – Pantwari. From Dehradun, the road condition is good, except for a few rough stretches between Nainbagh and Pantwari.
Pantwari to Nag Tibba Trek Distance – The Experience
One you reach Pantwari, you can easily find mules to carry the luggage. On the first day of the trek, you can stay overnight in Pantwari. Unless you’re a seasoned trekker, you shouldn’t try to cover the entire trek distance on the same day. Though Nag Tibba trek is relatively easy, at 9,915 feet, it requires some skill and caution.
About 4 km from Pantwari, you reach the first camping site in Burans Teak Khol. From here, you can use the water source to fill water bottles. The second camping site is 2 km away in Kathian, and the third one is another 2 km near Nag Devta temple. For most trekkers, it takes about 2-3 hours to cover the distance between these sites. The total Pantwari to Nag Tibba trek distance can be covered within 6-8 hours.
If you start from Pantwari early in the morning, you can reach Nag Devta temple by the afternoon. It’s better to stay overnight in the camp and soak in mesmerizing sunset views of the majestic Himalayan peaks.
