In the last few years, Nag Tibba has become one of the most popular trekking destinations in Uttarakhand. Since it’s a relatively easy trek, all you need is a detailed Nag Tibba trek map to plan a visit. Located on the foothills of the beautiful Garhwal range, Nag Tibba is 9,915 feet above sea level. The staggering height of the peak makes it one of the highest peaks in the region. Once you reach the summit, you can get mesmerizing views of the stunning Gangotri, Srikanth, Bandarpunch and Kedarnath peaks.
About Nag Tibba Trekking Experience
Without a doubt, Nag Tibba provides every trekker with a wholesome experience. The trek starts from Pantwari, a small yet scenic Garhwali village, located about 60 km from Mussoorie. On the journey, you’ll meet several like-minded trekkers and humble locals. You can also spend some time in nearby villages, such as Devalsari, Bandsari, Thatyur and Kori. The total distance between Nag Tibba and Pantwari is 8 km. Considering the low difficulty level, Nag Tibba trekking doesn’t require you to have any mountaineering skills or training.
Once you start the trek, you’ll walk through dense forest cover, lined with Oaks, Rhododendrons and Pines. Throughout the trek, stunning views of the majestic Himalayas will form the perfect backdrop. On a short journey of 2-3 days, Nag Tibba trek makes you feel closer to raw nature, giving respite from the monotony of city life. Though the trek is open throughout the year, the months between October and March are an ideal time to visit.
Nag Tibba Trek Difficulty
Since Nag Tibba trekking is ideal for beginners and amateur trekkers, you need decent level physical fitness to cover the distance. Though it’s a high altitude trek, it’s not very tiring, and doesn’t cause any major issues. With basic stamina and endurance, you can even complete the trek on the same day. However, most trekkers prefer to camp overnight in a small village called Kathian. In order to prepare for the trek, you only need to start brisk walking in the days nearing the trek.
Unlike other treks in the region, this one is ideal for elderlies, children and families. A few years ago, a 6-year old kid planned a visit to Nag Tibba, and completed the trek within 3 days. If you’re planning to visit Nag Tibba with children, it’s advised to plan the journey under the supervision of seasoned trekkers. You’ll also have to modify your itinerary accordingly.
While you start the journey from Pantwari, you can choose to descend from the other side of the mountain. This allows you to explore more of the region. Mesmerizing views of several Himalayan peaks will give you company throughout the trek, making it a once in a lifetime experience. Once you complete Nag Tibba trek, you’ll be left with memories to cherish for a lifetime.
