The geography of Kullu is such that the town of Kullu lies at an average elevation of 4,193 feet and lies on the banks of the mighty river Beas. From the Beas flows a tributary named Sarvari which leads to the less explored Lug valley on the west. On the east of Kullu lies a broad mountainous ridge on which the Bijli Mahadev temple is located. On the South of Kullu lies the town of Bhuntar, which houses the only airport in the area. To the north lies the famous town of Manali, which leads to the Lahaul and Spiti Valley via Rohtang Pass.
