Solang Valley, also known as Solang Nala derives its name from a combination of words Solang (Village side) and Nullah (Riverbed). This mesmerizing valley is located at the top of Kullu Valley in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The valley located approximately 14 kilometers from Manali, is widely its charming beauty with majestic snow-covered peaks and massive pine forests. Solang Valley is very popularly known as “Snow Point” and is an absolute rage among adventure seekers, to whom the valley is an absolute paradise. Some of the commonly offered adventure sports here are Skiing, Parachuting, Zorbing, Mountaineering, and Paragliding.

The valley is an amazing tourist destination as it has exciting activities throughout the year. During the winter months of January and February, Skiing is very popular and many ski agencies even offer skiing courses and equipment, which has largely labeled Solang as a Ski Resort. The “Ski Lift” at Solang Valley is an amazing experience that one should not miss out on. The lift goes up to 300m and offers beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding snow clad mountains and glaciers. As the snow melts away during the summer, skiing is replaced by Paragliding, Zorbing, and Parachuting. Another interesting activity during the summer months here is Mountaineering. The valley has really challenging cliffs to climb and tourists flock here between April and June to set camps and engage in rock climbing.

The Solang Valley Resort is the most popular hotel in the region and is located 8 kilometers from the inter-state bus station. The resort offers a wide variety of services and was awarded a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ by TripAdvisor in 2014.  Regular buses ply every hour and connect the valley to Manali at a cost of Rs 10. The buses can be boarded from Manali Mall Road. One can also reach Manali via Auto rickshaws which would cost around Rs. 200.
