Pelling is a town located at an altitude of 2150 m in the district of West Sikkim in India. It is the second most important tourist destination in Sikkim after Gangtok. The town forms the base from where trekkers start lengthy treks in the west Sikkim region. It is also famous for the magnificent views of the snow-capped Kanchenjunga range it has to offer, which is the third highest peak in the world. One can also view other mountains like Koktang, Kumbhakaran (Jannu), Rathong, Kabru, Kabru Dome, Pandim, and Siniolchu.
Pelling is located at a distance of 10 km from the district headquarters of Geyzing, 130 km away from Siliguri, which is the nearest railhead and airport and 115 km from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. The town is well connected by jeep and bus services.
Most people living in Pelling are Buddhists and speak the Sikkimese language. English, Hindi, and Nepali are also spoken here.

April-June – This is the peak season for tourism in Pelling due to the pleasant climate and an average temperature of 15-20 degrees.
July- September – This is the monsoon season and it rains quite heavily in Pelling. Landslides are common during this time and there might be roadblocks. This is a low season for tourism and hotel prices come down during this time, which is good for travelers on a tight budget.
October- November – Being a festival season, tourism is again on a high. The weather during this time is similar to the summer weather and the skies are clear, helping visibility of the mountain ranges around Pelling.
December – March – This is the winter season and the temperature falls below 10 degrees. The visibility remains good during this season too and those who don’t mind cold weather can enjoy the beauty of Pelling without a huge crowd of tourists around.

Some of the tourist attractions to visit in and around Pelling are the Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabadantse ruins, Tikjuk viewpoint, Helipad ground, Sangay Waterfalls, Dentam Valley, Alpine Cheese Factory and Singshore Bridge, which is one of the highest bridges in the world. One can also visit the Kanchenjunga Waterfalls, the Rimbi Waterfall, Rock Garden, Chhange Waterfalls and the Khecheopalri Lake.
