1)Goecha La – This trek takes around 7-8 days to complete and starts and ends at Yuksom, passing through Baktim, Phedong, Dzongri, Samiti Lake and Thangsing. The best time to do this trek is in the month of May. The maximum altitude during this trek is 1770 m.
2) Dzongri – The Dzongri trek also leads to Goecha La, and stretches from Yuksom to Dzongri. It offers beautiful views of Mount Pandim and the Kanchenjunga. This is a traditional trekking route passing through lush green landscapes with views of beautiful mountains. The trek is also known as the paradise for trekkers. It is an easy trek which takes 9 days to complete and the highest altitude reached is 4020 m. The best time to trek this route is from March to June and August to November.
3) Khanchendzonga – This is one of the most thrilling treks in Sikkim. The trail of this trek is lined with rhododendrons, pines, magnolias, spruces and lush green meadows and pastures. The best time to do this trek is in the months of April and May and the trek takes 20 days to complete, with the highest altitude being 4940 m.
4) Singalila- This trek has one of the rarest trek routes in the country, because it offers views of all four summits- Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Lhotse. One can also view peaks located in Bhutan and Tibet. Like most of the treks in this region, the trail here is also lined with oak trees and rhododendrons. One also has the chance to visit the Singalila National Park. The trek takes 12 days to complete and the best time to visit is June through September.
5) Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary- This trek starts from Hilley and passes Barsey, Jorebotey, Thulo Dhap, Chitterey and finally Uttarey. It offers a beautiful variety of rhododendron species like Arboreum, Falconeri, Barbatum, Hodgsoni and Campanulatum and other Himalayan flora on its trail and amazing views of Kanchenjunga. The trek leads up to the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary, which lies in the Singalila range and is the starting point for the Singalila Ridge trek. One can also trek from Soreng to Dentum. The best season to do this trek is from March to May.
