How to get to Yuksom

By Bus:

There are daily overnight rocket bus services between Calcutta and Siliguri. There is an air-conditioned luxury bus run by West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation between Calcutta and Siliguri. The journey can take between twelve and sixteen hours depending on the condition of the road. These services should be avoided during the monsoon months due to poor road conditions.

By jeep or taxi

From Gezing you can reach in 5 hours using shared or private jeeps. There are no buses directly to Yuksom. Taxis are available to Yuksom from Gyalshing, Tashising, Pelling and Gangtok. You can hire Maruti Vans, Cars, Jeeps and land rovers from both Bagdogra and Gangtok. Gangtok is connected by road with Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Siliguri.

By train

The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) which is about 150 km from Yuksom. You can take a taxi to reach Yuksom via Jorethang, which takes about 6-7 hours. Do not travel during night as the road to Yuksom is poorly lit, try to leave as early as 11 am. There are also a number of overnight trains from Calcutta to Siliguri. The premier train on this route is the Darjeeling Mail. Other trains are the Teesta-Torsa Express, Uttar Banga Express, and Kanchan Kanya express. These trains depart from Sealdah station. There are also trains from Delhi to New Jalpaiguri.

By plane

The nearest airport is in Bagdogra, about 5 hrs drive from Gangtok, 12 km west of Siliguri and about 170 km from Yuksom. Various national and international flights arrive here. There are two flights from Delhi and three flights from Kolkata, running daily. There are flights from other metros like Chennai and Guwahati too. From Kathmandu, reach the airport at Bhadrapur, east Nepal, then drive to Kakarbhitta(Nepal-India border, 35 km), to Siliguri (37 km) and to Gangtok (114km, 4 hrs) or fly to Biratnagar. A daily helicopter service flight from Bagdogra to Gangtok (25 min) is also operated by Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation.
